Detection of Water Losses by UAV Multispectral Remote Sensing

Water leak detection was determined by the UAV multispectral image and thermal image. Improving the spatial accuracy at fine resolution.

Currently, active leakages in water distribution networks (WDN) are identified and found by ground sensing and monitoring techniques based on the measurement of pressure differences, acoustic sounding and ground penetrating radar. Detecting the leak is troublesome for difficult area to access.

This study demonstrated the use of UAV multispectral and thermal images to determine the location of water leak.

It suggests that the relationship of vegetation index by visible and infrared data should be improved to the thermal emissivity surrounding.
