I am Dr. Najlaa Nazihah binti Mas’ood, an academician and researcher at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). My research interests are in Manufacturing Processes, Additive Manufacturing, and Sustainable Development, where I focus on bridging traditional practices with innovative technologies that shape a more sustainable future.
In my teaching, I specialize in Manufacturing Processes, Machining, and 3D Printing. I believe that education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire, and my aim is to inspire students to move beyond memorizing facts toward developing curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. By connecting theory with hands-on practice, I strive to prepare students to face the challenges of modern industry while nurturing their ability to innovate.
My research and academic journey are guided by the principle that sustainability is no longer about doing less harm but about doing more good. With this in mind, I encourage my students and peers to view engineering not just as a technical discipline but as a driver for positive societal change. I hold firm to the belief that the future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways, which motivates me to continuously grow as both a researcher and an educator.
I see education as a lifelong journey. In research, every failure is a step toward discovery, and this mindset pushes me to persevere in exploring new ideas and solutions. I aspire to inspire others to embrace knowledge not only as a personal achievement but also as a tool to benefit communities and contribute to the sustainable development of our world.
