Prominent researchers from the area delivered talks that focusing on how data obtained mainly through EEG and fMRI are being analysed.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_887\" style=\"width: 266px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/narina\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1866\/2019\/08\/IMG_0727-e1566287043900.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-887\" class=\"wp-image-887\" src=\"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/narina\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1866\/2019\/08\/IMG_0727-e1566287043900-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"256\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-887\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The longer version of the course title<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_880\" style=\"width: 254px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/narina\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1866\/2019\/08\/IMG_0673-2-e1566287400902.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-880\" class=\" wp-image-880\" src=\"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/narina\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1866\/2019\/08\/IMG_0673-2-e1566287400902-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"244\" height=\"322\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-880\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Prof. Ombao delivering his talks<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The session started with talks by Prof. Hernando Ombao from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology talks on\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Spectral methods for brain connectivity&#8221; <\/strong>and<strong> &#8220;Cross-dependence in multivariate time series&#8221;.\u00a0<\/strong>His lectures covered the basics of brain images and signals as well as the related statistical analysis, which I found to be helpful in visualising my initial research idea. One important aspect I learned is that brain signaling helps in the characterisation and differentiation of brain patterns.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_894\" style=\"width: 260px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/narina\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1866\/2019\/08\/IMG_0687-e1566290870172.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-894\" class=\" wp-image-894\" src=\"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/narina\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1866\/2019\/08\/IMG_0687-e1566290870172-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-894\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">While listening to Prof Ombao&#8217;s talks I managed to draft the conceptual framework for Fatini&#8217;s PhD project.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This was followed by a talk by AP Dr Anqi Qiu from National University of Singapore (NUS) entitled\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Phenotypes, genotypes &amp; We had the chance to consult the experts and all the talks were lively as the Q&amp;A sessions were very informative.
