Biography

Dr. Nornazira Suhairom is a prominent academic specializing in Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) and related fields. She started her academic position as Tutor DA41 at the Department of Technical & Engineering Education, Faculty of Education UTM in 2006. She has been a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) since November 2016, where she has contributed significantly to the development of educational frameworks and competency models in vocational training.

Education

Dr. Suhairom earned her Bachelor of Science in Food Studies from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2003-2006). She continued her studies at the same institution, obtaining a Master of Science in Technical and Vocational Education (2008-2012). She completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Technical and Vocational Education at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia between 2012 and 2016.

Research and Contributions

Her research interests encompass various aspects of vocational education, including competency development, career progression in hospitality, and innovative teaching methods. She also actively engaged in research pertaining nutrition and health within community settings. Dr. Suhairom has authored numerous publications, with over 500 citations in her work, reflecting her influence in the field. Notable research includes the development of competency models for culinary professionals and frameworks for teacher competencies in the context of Industry 4.0. Dr. Suhairom is actively involved in various research projects, including those focused on food insecurity and community engagement, infant-feeding (breastfeeding) as well as the integration of innovative behavior and design thinking in vocational education. She has also supervised multiple PhD candidates, contributing to the academic growth of future educators.

In addition to her teaching and research roles, Dr. Suhairom participates in various educational initiatives and conferences, promoting advancements in vocational education and training, as well as home economics education. She is recognized for her commitment to enhancing the quality of technical education in Malaysia and beyond.
