Research Interest

I am interested in the application of chemical and bioprocess engineering towards sustainability. My current research includes membranes in biorefinery and energy saving membrane processes.

I am interested in research into and development of novel technologies for molecular separation using membranes. Currently I work with solvent stable membranes or organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN). Since OSN can reduce the energy requirement by 90% (compared to distillation), this could revolutionized separation of organic mixtures. Also we are combining bioreaction (enzymatic catalyst) with membranes to achieved simultaneous reaction and separation. All research projects involve a combination of experimental and theoretical analysis, working with fundamental phenomena and their implications for specific systems.
