Johor Bahru, 14 August 2024 – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), successfully hosted the Matching Grants Workshop and Sharing Sessions on Wednesday, 14 August 2024. The event, part of the 2024 Research Year @ FS initiative, was held from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the FS Meeting Room, C17. The workshop featured key speakers from UTM, including Assoc. Prof. Ts. ChM. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek, Deputy Dean (Research, Development & Innovation), and Ts. Dr. Muhammad Safwan Abd Aziz, Director of the UTM Laser Centre.

 

Participants were given the opportunity to discover valuable insights as previous grant recipients shared their firsthand experiences in securing and managing research funding. Attendees engaged directly with grant experts during the interactive sessions, where they received answers to their questions about grant application processes, eligibility, and strategies for maximizing funding success.

 

The event provided a comprehensive overview of matching grant opportunities, highlighting the critical role that strategic funding plays in fostering collaborative research and innovation. Researchers also had the chance to exchange ideas and learn best practices to elevate their research endeavors and increase their chances of securing vital financial support. This workshop underscores UTM’s ongoing commitment to supporting its researchers in advancing their academic and scientific pursuits through robust funding partnerships, ultimately contributing to global research excellence.
