JOHOR BAHRU, 4 SEPTEMBER 2024 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) successfully organized a workshop titled “Proposal Writing & FRGS Proposal Bank Preparation” at the Ibnu Sina Institute for Scientific & Industrial Research (ISI-SIR). This event, led by the Faculty of Science, aimed to enhance the grant-writing skills of researchers, specifically for the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS).

The workshop attracted a diverse group of academicians, all eager to refine their proposal writing abilities. The day began with a warm welcome from the faculty’s leadership, setting a collaborative and supportive atmosphere for the session.

Central to the workshop was an in-depth lecture by Prof. ChM. Dr. Wan Mohd Khairul Bin Wan Mohamed Zin, a respected expert in research grant facilitation and Deputy Head of the Pure Sciences Domain. Prof. Khairul’s session was highly interactive, offering participants not only theoretical knowledge but also practical insights into developing competitive FRGS proposals. His approachable style encouraged active participation, allowing attendees to engage with complex concepts and apply them to their own research ideas.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to a personalized Coaching Session, where researchers received tailored guidance based on their departmental needs. This segment provided a valuable opportunity for one-on-one feedback, enabling participants to fine-tune their proposals with expert advice.

The workshop concluded on a high note, with participants expressing their appreciation for the depth of knowledge shared and the practical, hands-on approach. This event is part of UTM’s ongoing efforts to support its researchers in securing competitive funding and fostering a strong research culture within the university.

By the end of the day, participants left with not only enhanced proposal writing skills but also a renewed sense of community and collaboration within UTM’s research ecosystem.
