by | Aug 27, 2021

In 2020/2021 session, I taught two subjects in each semester: (1) Introduction To Entrepreneurship in semester 1 (UHAK1032), and (2) Bioorganic Chemistry (SSCG1103) in semester 2 for biology students Industrial Biology) at the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Science, UTM. UHAK1032 is a university core subject and compulsory to all undergraduate students. The main goal for biology students learned entrepreneurship is to have entrepreneurial mindset, and it is expected that the graduated students will not rely only getting employed but trying to become an entrepreneur after graduation. In this subject, students were exposed to entrepreneurial skills based on experiential learning strategies where the students need to set up a business and sell the products.

The main goal for Bioorganic Chemistry subject is to understand the basic concept of organic chemistry and after that applying the concept in solving problems related to the organic chemistry topic. The general goals for student learning for this subject is that the students need to understand and apply knowledge of biology in solving various issues. Besides that, there are several other goals that students need to achieve at the end of the course especially their generic skills including communication skills using various media. These goals are achieved through various T&L activities and assessment methods such as lectures, quizzes, tutorials, active learning, cooperative learning, assignments etc. The assignments are designed in such that students will be able to improve their generic skills. For Bioorganic Chemistry subject, assessments like quizzes, tutorial and test could improve the understanding of the basic concept of organic chemistry, whereas there were two assignments for improving their thinking and communication skills. These T&L activities were also supported using Elearning and Facebook group to ease the communication between lecturer and students and to increase our T&L productivity. These structured activities also inspire and support high expectation of students learning.
