The Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) project was developed as part of ASM\u2019s focus on fostering a culture of excellence in science, technology and innovation (STI). Malaysian research scientists contribute significantly to the economic growth of the nation via generation and dissemination of knowledge, wealth creation and productive pursuit of scientific excellence for benefits of humanity. In relation to this, the \u2018Top Research Scientists Malaysia\u2019 aims to recognize and showcase the accomplishments of the Malaysian research scientists as role models of excellence, mentors to the next generation and leaders to forge ahead with the science, technology and innovation (STI) agenda of the nation.<\/p>\n

Assoc Prof Ts ChM Dr Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek research focuses on the application of materials for biological and medical areas including synthesis and modification of inorganic materials (zeolites, clays, metal nanoparticles, silica, and other advanced materials) as an antimicrobial agent, biomaterial, adsorbent, carrier agent and other application. He is actively involved in innovation activities, and each of the materials from research projects is filed for Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). He and his team also discovered various plant extracts that can be used to synthesize metal nanoparticles in a green and sustainable approach and use it as a biocompatible antimicrobial agent.<\/p>\n
