{"id":436,"date":"2015-03-10T11:15:49","date_gmt":"2015-03-10T03:15:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/people.utm.my\/noorsidi\/?p=436"},"modified":"2015-03-10T11:15:49","modified_gmt":"2015-03-10T03:15:49","slug":"shared-housing-and-long-term-mental-illness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/noorsidi\/2015\/03\/10\/shared-housing-and-long-term-mental-illness\/","title":{"rendered":"Shared Housing and Long-Term Mental Illness"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"NLM_sec NLM_sec_level1\">\n<div class=\"sectionInfo\">\n<div class=\"sectionHeading\">\n<h5>Purpose<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sectionJumpTo\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2013 The purpose of this paper is to give an account by a rehabilitation psychiatrist of many years of involvement in shared housing for former long-stay hospital residents and other long-term mental health service users.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Design\/methodology\/approach<\/p>\n<div class=\"NLM_sec NLM_sec_level1\">\n<div class=\"sectionInfo\">\n<div class=\"sectionJumpTo\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2013 The paper offers a personal view based on developments in one locality of East London, blending case study narrative with cited earlier published papers that confirm and\/or give greater detail on specific aspects of the experience gained.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Findings<\/p>\n<div class=\"NLM_sec NLM_sec_level1\">\n<div class=\"sectionInfo\">\n<div class=\"sectionJumpTo\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2013 Long-term mental health service users, given the opportunity via shared housing to develop more lasting and natural relationships, proved to have social and interactive capacity that was obscured by both the conditions of hospital wards and by isolating accommodation \u201cin the community\u201d.
