Health authorities in east China’s Shandong Province detected coronavirus from a batch of imported cold chain food’s outer packaging in Rushan City on Wednesday.
City officials have sealed off all related products and conducted disinfection. All individuals who had close contact with the products have been quarantined and tested negative for coronavirus.
China isolated live COVID-19 virus from cold chain food packaging for the first time last week following the recent outbreak in Shandong’s Qingdao City. Health officials have also confirmed that exposure to coronavirus contaminated packaging can lead to infection.
