G-EASYMENT is a proof-of-concept geopolymer cement developed to address the growing demand for sustainable and high-performance construction materials. By incorporating industrial waste and alternative aluminosilicate sources, G-EASYMENT significantly reduces dependence on ordinary Portland cement while lowering the carbon footprint of construction activities. The technology is suitable for the production of building components, precast elements, and structural repair materials, offering enhanced durability, rapid strength development, and improved resistance to chemical attack. G-EASYMENT represents a step towards the commercialization of innovative green technologies that contribute to circular economy and sustainable infrastructure development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Industrialized Building System (IBS) is a pre-fabrication concept that is not new in construction. The usage of industrialized components for construction of\u00a0<\/span>buildings\u00a0is still very low in IBS construction. One of the best options of IBS is to\u00a0use the Prefabricated Load Bearing Wall Panelling (PFWP). This type of load-bearing wall panelling is proposed as a new concept of construction method where no traditional construction of columns and beams are needed. Not only\u00a0will it reduce\u00a0the construction time,\u00a0decrease\u00a0cost, and\u00a0reduce\u00a0material usage, but also\u00a0enhance\u00a0green building construction. The use of PWFP addresses issues of slow construction, labour shortages, inconsistent quality, site constraints, and high material waste in traditional building methods. It is expected that\u00a0detailed\u00a0findings from these research works could increase the confidence of using PFWP for housing construction, reduce the cost of construction, promote green construction, improve safety, improve site monitoring, communication and reduce dependency on skill labour.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hari ini industri ternakan lebah kelulut telah menarik minat komuniti sebagai satu aktiviti yang memberi pulangan yang lumayan. Namun begitu, didapati industri ini menyebabkan penebangan pokok untuk mendapatkan sarang kelulut menjadi tidak terkawal. Selain itu, ancaman persekitaran seperti serangga, anai- anai, monyet dan kecurian menjadikan penternakan lebah kelulut tidak lestari dan berisiko tinggi. Oleh itu, dengan menggunakan teknologi bahan binaan moden seperti simenfero akan dapat menambahbaik sarang kelulut supaya dapat menjamin eco-sistem hutan dan pembiakan lebah kelulut yang lebih lestari. Bahan binaan yang dihasilkan menggunakan pelbagai jenis bahan lestari mampu menghasilkan sarang kelulut yang selamat, mesra alam serta tahan cuaca panas dan hujan. Dengan ini kadar produktiviti dan penghasilan madu kelulut akan bertambah jesteru mampu menjana pendapatan tambahan kepada penternak kelulut di Malaysia. Tambahan pula, dengan peningkatan bilangan pengusaha madu kelulut, saingan penghasilan produk hiliran akan bertambah. Oleh itu, komuniti juga akan didedahkan dengan teknologi terkini untuk penghasilan produk hiliran serta pembungkusan dan pemasaran yang lebih efektif. Dengan mengabungkan penemuan baru dalam penyelidikan teknologi bahan di Sekolah Kejuruteraan Awam UTM, pembuatan sarang, pemindahan dan pembiakan koloni kelulut akan menjadi lebih mudah, murah, lestari dan kompetitif. Dengan itu, penggunaan teknologi simenfero akan dapat membantu meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat terutamanya golongan B40 dan yang terkesan disebabkan oleh andemik Covid 19.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rumah Syafiq iaitu pelajar UTM telah musnah terbakar pada Ogos 2020. Sehubungan itu, pihak Endowment UTM telah membuat kutipan tabung khas pembangunan semula rumah adik Syafiq yang dilancarkan pada Ogos 2020. Kumpulan penyelidik dari Sekolah Kejuruteraan Awam, yg diketuai oleh Ts. Dr. Nor Hasanah Abdul Shukor Lim telah dijemput bagi kerja kerja pembinaan semula rumah yg musnah terbakar di Kg. Kuala Telang, Kuala Lipis, Pahang. Kerja kerja pembinaan tersebut telah tertunda selama hampir dua (2) tahun akibat pandemik Covid-19. Untuk tujuan itu, staf dari UTM CRC, staf serta pelajar Sekolah Kejuruteraan Awam telah dipilih bagi menyertai misi program pembinaan semula rumah adik Syafiq di Jalan Kampung Kuala Telang, Pahang. Penglibatan para pensyarah, staf dan pelajar dalam program ini akan dapat memperkasakan komuniti terlibat dengan isu dan keperluan tempatan dan seterusnya, memahami isu bermasalah, membantu orang lain yang menghadapi kesukaran. Program ini adalah satu aktiviti yang memberi manfaat kepada pensyarah, staf dan pelajar mempraktikkan teori dan dapat memperkasakan kemahiran dalam bidang pembinaan jesteru dapat membantu pelajar dan keluarga akibat rumah yang musnah terbakar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Industrialized Building System (IBS) is a prefabrication concept that is not new in Malaysian construction. The usage of industrialized components for the construction of the building is still very low as compared to the conventional reinforced concrete method. One of the best options of IBS is to use interlocking hollow brick system (IHBS). This type of load-bearing brick has proposed a new concept of construction where no traditional columns and beams are needed. It is not just reduced the construction time, decreased cost and reduced material usage, but also green building construction method and guaranteed the quality of the building and durability. However, the use of this IHBS in Malaysia has limited the construction height up to two stories. Some of the problems such as low in compression strength (less than 5 N\/mm2), cracks due to low tensile strength and weight of the brick is too heavy (8kg per brick) have hindered the use of IHBS. The addition supplementary cementing materials such as fly ash, palm oil fuel ash, and coal ash as proposed in this research came from the waste product (agricultural and coal waste) could not only reduce the weight of the brick by almost 40% but also increased the strength of the brick by 50%. Therefore, there is a need to investigate the fundamental details on the material properties of the IHBS with the proposed additives (fly ash and fibres). The study on the materials properties covers on the compressive and tensile strengths test, bending test, water absorption test, shear test, flexural tests, and durability tests. It is expected that the details findings from these research works could increase the confidence of using IHBS for multi-story building for low-to-medium cost housing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This project involves a comprehensive assessment of concrete structures to determine the extent and severity of deterioration using an integrated forensic approach. The work includes detailed visual inspection to identify surface defects and deterioration patterns, supported by non-destructive testing (NDT) such as rebound hammer, ultrasonic pulse velocity, and reinforcement detection to evaluate in-situ concrete quality and structural integrity without causing damage. Where required, microstructural and material analyses are conducted to identify the root causes of deterioration, including microcracking, poor hydration, chemical attack, or reinforcement corrosion. Based on the combined findings from visual observation, NDT results, and microstructural evidence, the level of concrete deterioration is classified, and practical engineering recommendations are provided for repair, strengthening, or preventive maintenance to ensure long-term performance and durability of the structure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The use of conventional concrete panel in construction required heavy machineries and additional labour cost for installation purposes. Besides, Malaysia produces about 8.5 million tonnes of coal ash as waste which comprises of fly ash and bottom ash. Reusing such waste which is otherwise sent to landfills is an environmental friendly option. Hence, the major aim of this research was to investigate their use in lightweight concrete panel to replace sand and cement. Concrete specimens were prepared incorporating 0, 20, 50, 75 and 100% of bottom ash replacing sand by volume and 20% fly ash as cement replacement. Fresh and hardened state properties of the experimental specimens were determined. Results revealed that concrete density reduced when coal bottom ash content increased. On the other hand, at the early age, no significant effect was observed in compressive, flexural and tensile strengths of all concrete samples. However, at later ages, compressive strength of coal waste concrete specimen increased significantly. Moreover, drying-shrinkage of experimental concrete mixtures containing bottom ash was lower than the control mix. It is concluded that those experimental concrete mixes produce higher engineering properties but with less density compare to normal concrete which will minimize the cost, energy and environmental problems to a great extent.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
