Teaching Philosophy

As a Senior Lecturer and Principal Architect, my teaching philosophy centers on fostering creativity, innovation, and practical problem-solving skills in students. I prioritize a student-centered approach, integrating real-world scenarios and the latest technologies, such as BIM and virtual reality, to bridge theory and practice. I advocate for sustainable and responsible design, encouraging students to consider environmental, social, and economic impacts in their work. By emphasizing collaboration, critical thinking, and continuous learning, I aim to cultivate architects who are not only skilled and knowledgeable but also ethical, innovative, and responsive to societal needs. Through mentorship and a commitment to excellence, I strive to inspire students to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the built environment.

“The mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.”

Frank Lloyd Wright

“Architecture muse have something that appeals to the human heart. Creative work is expressed in our time as a union of technology and humanity.”

Kenzo Tange

“As an architect, you design for the present, with an awareness of the past, for a future which is essentially unknown.”

Sir Norman Foster

Shaping Space, Inspiring Communities

In my career as an architect and educator, I have had the privilege of working on a diverse range of projects that span healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and commercial developments. As the Principal Architect at Shahida Azili Architect, I have led design teams on significant projects such as the Desa Budiman Housing Development in Selangor,  Hospital Dungun in Terengganu and the Jabatan Perubatan Transfusi in Kelantan. These projects exemplify my commitment to functional, aesthetic, and sustainable design.

In academia, I serve as a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where I integrate my professional experiences into my teaching. My work focuses on bridging the gap between theory and practice, preparing students for real-world challenges through innovative teaching methods and the latest technological advancements. My research interests include urban creative placemaking, sustainable housing, modular coordination, and the adoption of virtual reality in architectural design, reflecting my dedication to advancing the field through both practice and education.
