PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING PORTFOLIO

Teaching has been a fulfilling journey, allowing me to continuously learn and expand my knowledge. Becoming a lecturer has proven to be the right path for me, as it enables me to pursue my passion for learning while sharing knowledge with others. The university environment, with its vast resources and supportive network, plays a vital role in fostering both my professional and personal growth by providing access to essential tools and opportunities.

One statement from UTM that resonates deeply with me is: “The divine law of Allah is the foundation of knowledge.” I firmly believe that every individual has the right to teach, learn, and acquire knowledge. The distinction between beneficial and misleading knowledge lies in its contribution to society’s well-being. As such, I see it as my responsibility to impart meaningful knowledge ethically while fostering a supportive learning environment, even in challenging situations. My goal as an educator is to teach, inspire, and continuously learn, ensuring my students develop not only academic competence but also critical thinking skills, adaptability, and strong ethical values.

A crucial aspect of my professional development has been cultivating self-leadership, which serves as a foundation for both personal and professional growth. It encompasses the ability to influence oneself through purpose-driven actions, self-awareness, and continuous improvement. During the Baseline Competencies for Differentiated Career Pathway (BC4DCP) course, Prof. Astuty Amrin emphasized the Four Pillars of Self-Leadership: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Personal Accountability, and Self-Motivation. Her perspectives highlighted the importance of cultivating these qualities to excel as an educator and leader in academia.

As part of this journey, I also attended Prof. Astuty’s lecture on “Essentials of Academic Leadership in Higher Education.” The session offered valuable perspectives on academic leadership, the importance of student engagement, and the responsibilities of educators in higher education. Her discussion highlighted the need to create an effective learning environment while preparing students to meet industry demands.

I remain committed to ensuring that my students graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet industry expectations and gain recognition from professional bodies. More importantly, I strive to shape them into ethical professionals who contribute to the progress and prosperity of our nation.
