Engineering Statistics

SSCE2193

Engineering Statistics provides students with the knowledge and skills to collect, interpret, and analyze data for solving engineering problems. The course emphasizes statistical methods in quality control, process improvement, reliability, and decision-making under uncertainty. Key topics include probability distributions, hypothesis testing, regression, and design of experiments, with a strong focus on practical applications. By the end, students will be able to apply statistical tools to support data-driven decisions and improve engineering practice.

Computer Literacy

SSCM1303

This course introduces students to essential computer applications and digital tools that support academic learning, problem-solving, and research activities. Students will develop practical skills in internet searching, data analysis, scientific computing, and academic writing using a variety of software platforms. Core topics include Microsoft Excel for data management, Microsoft Mathematics and other tools for problem solving, MATLAB/Octave for numerical computation, LaTeX for scientific documentation, and R, SAS, and Python for statistical and data analysis. In addition, students will use DataCamp as an interactive learning platform to enhance their practical skills in programming and data science. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply these tools effectively to manage information, conduct analysis, and present results in a professional and academic context.

Engineering Mathematics I

SSCE1693

Engineering Mathematics I builds a strong foundation in mathematical concepts essential for engineering studies. The subject covers topics such as algebra, functions, trigonometry, calculus (limits, differentiation, and integration), and basic differential equations. Emphasis is placed on problem-solving and applying mathematical techniques to real engineering contexts. By the end, students will be able to apply fundamental mathematics effectively to analyze and solve engineering problems.
