Dr. Nurul Rawaida Ain Burhani is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), specializing in the engineering applications of Artificial Intelligence for industrial process and quality optimization. Her research integrates AI-driven methods with DMAIC Six Sigma frameworks to drive sustainable improvements in manufacturing and engineering systems. As a certified SIRIM Six Sigma Green Belt recipient and Women in Academia and Industry 2025 Award winner, she collaborates extensively with industry partners across manufacturing and engineering services, translating research into real-world innovation for national industries and global SMEs alike.
In addition to her research leadership, as an advisor to the UTM Industrial Engineering Club and faculty advisor for the IEOM Student Chapter, she nurtures young talent, fosters industry-academia linkages, and promotes leadership development among future engineers. Dr. Nurul Rawaida Ain is also a certified instructional designer with international credentials. She champions transformative STEM education by embedding critical thinking, digital learning, and inclusive pedagogy into curriculum design. Her efforts have enhanced student engagement and academic outcomes across diverse learning environments.
Her passion for empowering women is reflected in her active roles with the National STEM Association Malaysia and international youth organization; YOSH MyFundAction, where she leads impactful initiatives that support personal growth, career readiness, and leadership among young women, particularly in underrepresented communities. She has delivered numerous talks, workshops, and national-level training sessions to inspire greater female participation in engineering, technical fields, and academic leadership.
