Biography:
Dr. Pritheega Magalingam is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Kuala Lumpur, with extensive experience in academia, research, and academic leadership. She obtained her Bachelor of Science (Computer) degree majoring in Software Engineering in 2006 and her Master of Science in Information Security in 2009 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Her Master’s research focused on digital evidence retrieval and forensic analysis guidelines for illegal gambling machines, reflecting her early specialisation in digital forensics and cybercrime investigation. She later earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, in July 2015, where her research centred on complex network analysis and the development of novel analytical approaches for detecting and modelling criminal communities. Dr. Pritheega has more than a decade of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration, and over 9 years of hands-on expertise in developing analytical tools using R for network science applications, particularly for analysing and visualising complex relational data. Her research interests include digital forensics analysis and validation, information security risk management, data analytics, social and criminal network analysis, and the application of complex network theory in cybersecurity and e-crime investigation. She is actively involved in postgraduate supervision, curriculum development, and professional training, contributing to the advancement of teaching and research in digital forensics, business intelligence, and social network analytics. Since 2016, she has held several academic leadership and management roles at UTM Kuala Lumpur, supporting programme development, academic governance, and institutional initiatives. Dr. Pritheega is a professional member of the IEEE Information Theory Society and IEEE Computer Society, as well as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Through her academic, research, and leadership contributions, she continues to play a significant role in strengthening research capacity and professional practice in information security, digital forensics, and applied data analytics.
