Dr Rania Al-Ashwal act as the head of advanced Human diagnostic research group. She is an affiliated research member at UTM-IJN Cardiovascular Engineering Centre. Also, she is a senior lecturer at the School of Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health science at University Teknologi Malaysia. She hold a bachelor in Medicine and Surgery Medical Doctor (MB.BS) Sana’a University.
In research, her expertise is multidisciplinary, where she integrates the clinical, physiological and biomedical aspect of research. She leads and managed several research funds and successfully and achieved the objectives.
The main areas of her research include a clinical pathway for myocardial Infarction patients, fetal monitoring for intrauterine fetal death prevention, and wound therapeutic and diagnostic studies. She also works as co-investigator and research collaboration with several research areas and research funds, including cardiovascular, cancer, health information.
Her core teaching expertise is anatomy and physiology( more than 400 hrs). She also taught basic rehabilitation (more than 100 hrs) and Research Methodology (more than 120 hrs), and problem based laboratories (more than 250 hrs). She teach both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Also, she has experience in teaching other biomedical related subjects such as biophysics, cardiovascular engineering etc.
