The main task of this assignment is to gather necessary information in order to prepare a written article or story (profile) on a selected entrepreneur. This assignment provides opportunity for students to meet and interview their chosen entrepreneur and learn from them first hand, if they choose to conduct interview. Each group is required write a profile of ONE entrepreneur. The report must be based on interview session or other resources. Should students choose to conduct interview, the interviewee must be with the entrepreneur, not his or her representative. A written report is to be submitted on the last day of week 7. However, due to the Movement Order Control (MCO) caused by Covid19 pandemic, the submission has been moved to week 12.
Each report should be between 5 to 10 pages, excluding exhibits, pictures and attachments and can be written in English. The report should be in the form of creatively written magazine articles format, rather than merely a full transcript of the interview or a collection of pictures. Copying previously submitted paper-or-online-based articles are strictly unacceptable and considered plagiarising. The assignment is evaluated based on quality of the report as well as on efforts, creativity and teamwork. The total mark for this assignment is 20% and the marks given based on the information listed below as well as the creativity of the magazine and teamwork among group members.
The magazine contains the following information:
- Background/description of the business and the entrepreneur and its main activities
- History of the business: how the business was started? what and who drive/motivate the entrepreneur to start the business? any particular uniqueness on how and why the business was started? product/service/business innovation?
- Challenges: during the early years and how to overcome them? (financing, training, manpower, marketing, or production)
- Support services: any training attended? individuals/agencies/institutions that provide supports on financing, marketing, production, human resources?
- Business and personal achievements: sales? markets? exports? technology? wealth? market expansion? product development? award and recognition?
- Future plan? (expansion? diversification? retirement?)
- Advice and suggestion on things needed to be successful?
