The world of science is full of mysteries and new developments. Thanks to numerous studies and discoveries by scientists, we understand the world we live in in a better way. Also, by using these chunks of information, we are able to shape our way of life to make it more efficient in the light of science. However, when a groundbreaking discovery is made, scientists always approach it suspiciously since a good dose of skepticism is always needed for scientific progress. They question and sometimes oppose the idea. This brings us to Maxwell’s equations. Thanks to Maxwell’s discovery, the science world learned the existence of electromagnetic waves. These are the waves that enable us to perform the most simple tasks from calling a friend who is far away to heating up some food in the middle of the night. However, before going into more detail, let us start with the basic questions: “Who is James Clerk Maxwell?” and “Where is James Clerk Maxwell from?” Maxwell was a Scottish physicist who caused some controversy in the science world when he developed the concept of electromagnetism. Although we know the existence of electromagnetic waves as a fact and use them in our daily lives today, some scientists at the time fought against the idea as it wasn’t in line with the traditional Newtonian understanding of the world. It was not until 1886 when German physicist Heinrich Hertz generated electromagnetic waves in a laboratory that Maxwell’s equations came into light.
