Publication Book Chapter in UTHM or Self Publish

Session 1

Title : Publication Book Chapter under Penerbit UTHM

Time : 930am – 1130am

Speaker : Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Anita Ahmad

  1. Book chapter can have same title. Just change series.
  2. For UTHM, 1 of the editors needs to be the editor.
  3. Editor needs to be 3 maximums.
  4. Fill the copyright reserve. Template obtain from Penerbit UTHM.
  5. 10 Chapter only. Too much too thick. Minimum 10.
  6. Make sure the numbering already changes. (Heading number)
  7. One of the authors for each paper need to have UTHM staff. But not compulsory to all.
  8. At the back, have biography of editor.
  9. Need to have index.
  10. Back cover has summary of the book.
  11. ISBN usually 1 month.
  12. Print 12 only (own money, given to library). Author only get pdf.
  13. No payment for editor.
  14. Page Limit: 3000 words to 7000 words. Normal 6-7 pg.
  15. No similarity indexes.

Session 2

Title : How to Self-Publish A Book Chapter

Time : 1130am – 1230pm

Speaker : Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Norzanah Rosmin

  1. PNM repository? Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia
  2. Offer several type ISBN: Physical/digital (ebook/audiobook)/electronic(CD/DVD)
  3. ISBN not same with ISSN.
  4. www.mha.gov.my/index
  5. Pendaftaran penerbit > ISBN/ISSN>Pengkatalogan Dalam Penerbitan (PdP).
  6. ISSN usually in series.
  7. ISBN 13 numbers.
  8. PdP not compulsory. Free by PNM. Good for popularity.
  9. Publisher can be your own or center of excellence/ research group.
  10. Minimum page: Adult: 32 page with output. Children book: 16 pages with output
  11. Colouring or sticker or program book cannot.
  12. If individual, only need IC to register as publisher. But if research group, need to have letterhead.
  13. Different format, different ISBN. Even change soft cover to hard cover. Change language, no need.
  14. eISBN need to have link platform first. Need to have component first.

  16. Individual just need IC. Research group choose IPTA.  AFTER REGISTER PUBLISHER, cannot change anymore. better choose Digital>eBook (need to have link online). If choose physical of electronic, need to post to them.
  17. Link check only. After approve, private back.
  18. Thing that needs for ISBN (usually 1 day only to get ISBN):

    1. Copyright page
    1. Synopsis/preface
    1. Back cover
