Executive Summary of The Project

Royal Belum State Park (RBSP) was gazetted as a protected area and is managed by the Perak State Parks Corporation. The human inhabitants of RBSP are the indigenous orang asli from Kampung Sungai Kejar, Kampung Sungai Tiang and Kampung Belum Lama who are mainly from the Jahai and Negrito tribes. The indigenous people of Royal Belum, or Orang Asli, have limited access to clean water supply. The issue related to water quality villages at Royal Belum in particular at Kampung Sungai Tiang is the instability of clean water supply for their daily usage especially for cooking and daily consumption. The water supply is murky and the pipelines are stuffed with mud during raining season. Furthermore, there is no clean water supply during dry season. This project aims to provide an initiative to supply clean water for indigenous people or locally called as Orang Asli community at Royal Belum State Park that is located in Gerik, Perak, Malaysia.

Overall Project Objectives

The main objective is to supply clean water to 40 houses of native people in Kampung Sungai Tiang, Royal Belum, Perak, Malaysia. The elaborated objectives:

i) to design low cost and sustainable hydraulic ram pump for supplying clean water to Orang Asli

ii) to provide a complete automatic device that uses the energy in the supplying clean water for daily usage

iii)to transfer the technology and training to every homeowner for daily usage, maintenance and common troubleshooting of the system
