As a Senior Lecturer at the Language Academy, I have a strong academic base and experience to teach English at the tertiary level. Having more than 29 years of experience, I have lectured in other Institutions of Higher Learning in Malaysia such as UiTM, UIAM and MARA College. I have conducted extensive English language programs from the very basic, intermediate to the advanced English proficiency courses such as MUET, IELTS and English for Post-Graduates. It has also become increasingly important for other disciplines such as Engineering, Science, IT and Built Environment to developed Communication-based competencies and to master and apply English in a Multidisciplinary context. Realizing this, I have also conducted professional EAP and ESP courses such as English for Career and Workplace Communication such as Phonetics and Speaking Skills, Business Writing Skills, Technical/ Report Writing Skills, English for Occupational Purposes (Meetings, Interviews, and Effective Telephone Skills). Through these courses, students could enhance their communicative competence as it is without doubt that the career prospects open to graduates and employees who are proficient in English are exceptionally wide. Coupled with these unique blend of skills and competencies in teaching and realising the growing need to master and apply the language to the success and development of an immense variety of field, I had completed my PhD thesis in Multidisciplinary competencies integrating communication into the engineering course and evaluating students’ achievement in the communication skills outcomes. Currently, I am the main supervisor for 1 PhD student who is graduating in 2 years, and I am also a Co-Supervisor for 1 PhD student and supervising 1 Masters and PSM student. I am also working on publishing a Book Chapter and two papers this year.
