Mohammad Emad Alolaby

I graduated from University of Damascus – Syria as an Electrical Engineer in 1999. I received my MS in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale – USA in 2002, and my EMBA from the Higher Institute of Business Administration in Damascus– Syria in 2007. Now I am pursuing a PhD in telecommunications in UTM – Malaysia.

During my study in Southern Illinois University, I was appointed as teacher assistant for two courses:  “Wireless and Personal Communications”, and “Analog & digital communications.” Since 2002, I have joined MTN – Syria, one of 22 operators of MTN mobile telecommunications multinational group based in South Africa. My expertise spanned over Transmission (PDH, SDH, Fiber, Microwave, DWDM, IP-Backbone, IP-RAN) and Radio (2G,3G, LTE) networks. I occupied multiple positions including: Transmission Network Manager, and Radio Network Planning and Optimization Senior Manager. Currently I am occupying the position of Transport and IP network Senior Manager.

My research focus is on OFDM, scheduling, and QoS. In UTM, I am doing my research on “Minimizing delay in 5G Mobile communications networks using MIMO and cross-layer scheduling.” In this research I am addressing one of the major challenges in 5G networks which is delay.
