Professor Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, Chair of Institute for Life Ready Graduate, University Technology Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor, Malaysia.
Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim is a Professor of Image Processing at School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering, University Technology Malaysia, Skudai, Johor, Malaysia. Presently, he has appointed as Chair of Institute for Life Ready Graduate, University Technology Malaysia (UTM iLeaGue) from Jun 2020 and also as a Research Fellow of Media and Game Innovation Centre of Excellence (MaGICX), Institute of Human-Centred Engineering (iHuMEN), University Technology Malaysia. Besides, he is member of the Board of Governance (BOG), SPACE College since 2014. He received his Diploma in Computer Science (1997), B.Sc.of Computer Science majoring in Computer Graphics (1999), and MSc. Of Computer Science (2004) from the University Technology Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia and his PhD of Spatial Modelling (2008) from University Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia.
As a Professor, he actively involved in teaching and learning. His teaching philosophy is

He teaches the courses such as Programming Technique, Mathematics for Computer Graphics, Fundamental of Computer Graphics, Fundamental of Image Processing, Data Visualization and Application Development. Besides, he actively supervises postgraduate students and has graduated thirty (30) PhD and sixteen (16) MPhil students since 2009.
His passion is to explore new invention on processing various type images in the emerging application based on the revolution of technology for prospering lives. Recently, he leading Image Processing and Application Research Initiatives at UTM MaGICX. His major contribution is an improvement of image processing approach and granted the patent titled “A Method for Processing Image” (PI 2014 700826). With the experiences, he received the research grant from EU-Horizon 2020 on 2016 titled High Dimensional Heterogeneous Data based Animation Techniques for Southeast Asian Intangible Cultural Heritage Digital Content (ANIAGE EURO 2020) to extract tangible elements of Zapin Dance through video and images. Besides, he has published more than 120 articles index by SCOPUS and several book chapters.
Prof. Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim has wisely experiences in academic organization management. Currently, he is Chair of Institute for Life Ready Graduate (iLeaGue), University Technology Malaysia since Jun 2020 with the responsibility to ensure graduates are ready for their lives and gainfully employed. He has contributed to developing Life-ready Graduate Ecosystem for UTM students including enhancing current policies, mainstreaming the entrepreneurial mindset, innovation and experiential learning in the academic programme.
He develops his management skills started from 2004 with the appointment of several coordinators at Faculty of Computer Science, UTM such as student development programs; direct intake students; out-campus programme; and lab facilities. Then, he has appointed in several positions as Head of Department (External Programme), Faculty of Computer Science and Information System, UTM (Jan 2012 – July 2013); Deputy Director, Centre for Joint Programme, SPACE, UTM (July 2012 – Jun 2013); Chief Operating Officer (COO), SPACE College and UTMSPACE Services Sdn. Bhd. (July 2013 – Jun 2014); Chief Operating Officer (COO), UTMSPACE Kuala Lumpur, UTMSPACE; Academic Manager (Undergraduate Programme), Faculty of Computing, UTM (Nov 2014 – Jun 2015); Deputy Dean (Co-curriculum Courses and Service Learning), Office of Undergraduate Studies, UTM (July 2015 – Jun 2018); Assistant Dean (Transnational Education), Faculty of Engineering, UTM (July 2018 – Dec 2018); and Chair of Undergraduate Studies, Department of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), UTM (Jan 2019 – May 2020).
Along the way, he has founded and established three organizations which are Media and Game Innovation Center of Excellence (UTM MaGICX) in Jun 2013; SPACE College in April 2014 and Institute for Life Ready Graduate, UTM (UTM iLeaGue) in April 2020.
