Personal Leadership Development Plan Based on the Four Pillars of Self-Leadership
I believe in the importance of quality Islamic education in shaping ethical and knowledgeable individuals. My experience in teaching and supervising student theses provides a strong foundation for instilling these values in students. What is important to me is to provide effective and high-quality teaching, and to develop students who can apply their knowledge in their daily lives. My goal is to develop positive attitudes, such as honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic, as well as fostering social awareness and a balanced personality as a leader.
As a lecturer, I am involved in various teaching and research activities. I have conducted courses based on leadership and the philosophy of science and technology, demonstrating my commitment to integrating various elements in Islamic education and the Arabic language. I have been involved in several programs that foster leadership and communication skills among students. The main programs implemented include the ‘Leadership Development & Team Building Program 2023 (LDTP’23)’ and ‘Finding a Hidden Kaisers 2023’. These programs are held to build leadership skills, teamwork, and noble values among students of the Leadership course (UHMT2012) Section 03 and 04. The role of lecturers is not only to deliver theory but also to act as facilitators who encourage students to develop their leadership skills.
Additionally, I was entrusted as the Director of the Outbound Mobility Program held from September 24-27, 2024, at several universities in Brunei Darussalam for research collaboration networking. This program involved 18 master’s and doctoral students who were asked to present papers in their respective fields. I was also appointed as a panelist for student presentations at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA and UTM. As an educator, it is important to always demonstrate professionalism, be open to student feedback, and provide appropriate guidance. My motivation comes from the desire to empower students so that they can master religious knowledge and the Arabic language well and be able to use this knowledge in their lives.
I realize that to become a more effective educational leader, I need to enhance my skills in using technology in teaching. Therefore, I plan to attend courses and workshops related to educational technology, such as e-learning platforms and digital tools that can be used to teach Arabic and Islamic Education. I also see the importance of engaging in international research collaborations, which can enhance my skills and help me understand different educational approaches globally.
I aim to build success that supports my teaching and research. Among these plans are practicing continuous learning, setting aside time for self-reflection, and actively engaging in research and publication. As a leader in the field of education, I also need to create a conducive environment for student success. I will implement active learning in the classroom, such as problem-based learning and interactive discussions, to ensure students can engage actively and effectively in the learning process.
