Welcome to my teaching philosophy page! Here, you’ll find an overview of my approach to education, which is centered around fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
My journey as a lecturer began with a part-time position at a public university in Malaysia. During that year, I concentrated on refining my teaching skills and learning to manage a different group of students. This period was crucial, providing me with foundational knowledge and practical experience essential for developing my teaching methods and understanding my unique approach to education. Upon joining UTM, I faced new challenges that underscored the necessity for further development in my teaching capabilities as well as my research skills. I realized that mastering the subjects I teach and building confidence, particularly when addressing larger student groups, were areas requiring significant improvement. This realization emphasized the ongoing need for enhancement in my teaching practice. In addition to advancing my teaching skills, I recognized the importance of strengthening my leadership abilities. Effective decision-making and the capacity to guide research teams are vital for leading successful projects and creating a productive academic environment. Furthermore, my research in numerical computation has played a significant role in my career. This work has deepened my understanding of complex mathematical models and computational techniques, allowing me to make meaningful contributions to the academic community. My dedication to both research and teaching reflects my commitment to advancing knowledge and supporting the growth of my students and colleagues. This comprehensive approach ensures that I continue to excel in both educational and research endeavors, fostering an environment where both I and my students can thrive.
Achieving success as an academician involves recognizing that my journey is still ongoing. While improving my teaching and research skills is crucial, refining my leadership abilities is equally important. As I advance in my career, I will assume the responsibility of supervising and mentoring an increasing number of students and research assistants. This role will require me to provide guidance, support, and inspiration to help them reach their full potential. In addition to personal growth, I am committed to using the knowledge and expertise I have acquired to contribute meaningfully to the community. By applying my research in numerical computation and my teaching experience, I aim to address real-world problems and develop solutions that benefit society. My goal is to support and inspire talented individuals who will make significant impacts in their fields and communities. Through continuous improvement in teaching, research, and leadership, I strive to create an environment where both my students and I can thrive and achieve enduring success. This holistic approach ensures that my contributions extend beyond academia, fostering advancements that positively influence and uplift the broader community.
