The Future of Civil Engineering Education

*ASCE Releases Roadmap for the Future of Civil Engineering Education*
The 2019 ASCE Education Summit, held in Dallas last May, included a mission statement of sorts as its subtitle: “Mapping the Future of Civil Engineering Education.”
The full report of summit findings is available as a free download on the ASCE website.
Included in the report are four key recommendations that provide a structure of aspirations for civil engineering education:
• Elevate professional skills to an equal footing with technical skills.
• Develop a diverse, inclusive, equitable and engaging culture within the civil engineering profession.
• Reexamine and potentially redefine the domain of civil engineering.
• Foster an ongoing commitment to transformative education.

NEW CALL FOR BRIDGING GRANTS WITH ASEAN IS OPEN!

The Leading House for the Asia region has launched a new Call!

Projects under this fundscheme focus on strengthening the collaboration between Swiss researchers and scientist with Asian partners. Bridging grants can fund:

  • Proposal preparation of a joint project which seeks further funding from other funding organisation
  • Establish sustainable partnerships between Swiss and Asian institutions

Projects focusing on joint teaching or curriculum development are also covered in this funding scheme.

Any researcher or scientist from any discipline based at any Swiss research institution, university or university of applied science are eligible to apply for this call. The Swiss partner is the main applicant.

The Asian partner shall obtain a doctoral degree or equivalent with several years of research experience.

Eligible are the following countries:

  • China, Hong Kong, Taiwan
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • Brunei Darussalam
  • Cambodia
  • Indonesia
  • Lao PDR
  • Malaysia
  • Myanmar
  • Philippines
  • Singapore
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam

Deadline for application is 12 January 2020.
