Position for Quantum Computation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Posting date: 17 October 2018<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Scholarship for one M.Sc. student in the field of Quantum Computation\u00a0is now open for application.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Information about this program:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">This successful candidate will be tasked to create a microwave bridge, operating at X-band (around 8-9 GHz).\u00a0 This project involves developing an FPGA and a microwave bridge to generate a low frequency RF pulse\/wave which will be up-converted to 8-9 GHz.\u00a0 The pulse\/wave will be used on an ESR sample at room temperature.\u00a0 The work will involve programming the FPGA, developing the microwave bridge, creating the resonator and sample for the project, and testing the pulse\/wave on the sample.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Here are some of the information of this program:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Successful candidate will receive an allowance of RM 1200\/month, only for 2 years.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">After 2 years, no scholarship will be provided.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Scholarship is subjected to a review of research progress at the end of each semester.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The candidate is to register as a student in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia under the Master of Philosophy (research) program.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Working hours: <strong>at least<\/strong> 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (subject to performance)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The candidate should start his\/her study ideally by January 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Please see the following requirements:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Candidates must be of Malaysian nationality<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Have least a basic degree in physics or electronics.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Must be knowledgeable in basic electronics with a strong interest in programming.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Preferably familiar with microwave\/RF technology\u00a0and FPGA programming but not mandatory.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Proficiency in English language, both oral and written, is ideal but not mandatory.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Interested applicants are invited to submit the following documents by email to yungszen[at]utm.my:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Curriculum vitae (2 pages maximum)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">B.Sc. transcript<\/span><\/li>\n<li>B.Sc. thesis<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Statement on motivation for pursuing postgraduate study (one page maximum)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">One recommendation letter<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Review of applications will begin immediately until the position is filled.
