Seliaan kepada pelajar Geomatik yang sedang menjalani latihan industri (LI) di LS Jasa Jaya telah dilakukan. LS Jasa Jaya terletak di kawasan Larkin. Pelajar sempat mengikuti beberapa projek kerjaluar meliputi ukur demarkasi, as-built survey dan details survey di beberapa tempat.

PM Kamaludin telah pun bersara dari khidmatnya di UTM. Satu majlis penghargaan sempena persaraan beliau telah diadakan anjuran GnG. PM Din telah memberi sumbangan yang amat besar dalam berbagai bentuk kepada aktiviti akademik GnG.

The last lecture for Industrial Svy was held today. The lecture covers topic on gyro method for azimuth determination in underground survey environment. Quite a number of students could not make it to class. May be because the convocation is still on-going which affected lectures in other classes as well.

Sesi lawatan penyeliaan LI bagi pelajar 3Sghu telah dijadualkan sepanjang April. Bagi pelajar yang menjalani LI di Jurukur Abadi lawatan telah diadakan pada sebelah petang tadi.

Pada tahun ini dua pelajar 3Sghu menjalani LI mereka dengan LS Kamarul Ariffin yang berpejabat di Jalan Rawa, Taman Perling. Mereka dalah Amalin A’ishah dan Wan Nursyamim. Ini adalah batch pertama yang menjalani LI dengan LS Kamarul yang belum pernah ada pelajar LI sejak sekian lama.

A book ‘Plane and Geodetic Surveying’ – second edition is available at PSZ. The book written by Aylmer Johnson was published by CRC Press in 2014. Dr Johnson is a senior lecturer at Engineering Department, Cambridge University.

RISM Sarawak Branch is organizing 2018 Survey Congress to be held in Kuching on 17-18 April 2018. On the first day only one out of five presentations will be on geomatics. The paper on geomatic entitles 3D City Modelling is to be presents by Sarawak LSD. Two presenters from FGHT – Prof AAR and PM TAM will participate in the Congress. The former will deliver presentation on Geoinformation particularly on City Modelling while the latter on CORS network infrastructure.

FGHT menganjurkan Festival Astronomi dan Falak selama dua hari pada 13 dan 14 April. Sesi pembukaan telah disempurna rasmi oleh Dato Mufti Negeri Johor. Pada hari pertama telah diadakan majlis Bicara Ilmu dengan pembentangan oleh dua staf Jabatan Geomatik PM Din dan Tn Hj MSCA. Topik yang disampaikan ialah Astronomi dan Teknologi Angkasa serta Evolusi Takwim Hijriah di Malaysia.

Helmut Moritz is very associated with topics on Physical Geodesy. He has authored and co-authored many books on physical geodesy and topic related to it. One of such books is ” The Figure of the Earth – Geodesy and the Earth’s Interior” published in 1990 by Wichmann Verlag, Karlsruhe. This book is very rare to find.
