Computational Fluid Dynamics (SKMM4333/SEMM4333)

Course synopsis

This course introduces students to fundamentals and practical skills of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The governing equations of fluid flow and their mathematical classification are introduced. The course will also provide the basic concept of CFD and numerical procedures such as Finite Difference Method (FDM) and Finite Volume Method (FVM). Student are also exposed to practical issues associated with the implementation of the use of CFD codes, such as turbulence modeling, boundary conditions, and the importance of verification and validation. At the end of the course, students should be able to demonstrate and apply the theory to solve problem related to complex flow of fluids using open source and commercial CFD codes.
