Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Islamic Civilization, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and currently serve as the Director of the Centre of Research for Fiqh Science and Technology (CFiRST), Ibnu Sina Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (ISI-ISIR), UTM. I hold a PhD in Fiqh Science and Technology, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, all from UTM.
My academic journey bridges Islamic scholarship with contemporary socio-economic challenges, focusing particularly on community-based economic empowerment, Islamic entrepreneurship, and halal governance. I have led and contributed to multiple research and consultancy projects, including the development of the Modul Keluarga Sejahtera Negeri Johor and frameworks for halal certification and zakat innovation. As Director of the Centre for Research in Fiqh Science and Technology (CFiRST), InsyaAllah I will try to instill the integration of Islamic ethical values into entrepreneurship and policy-making. At present, I am actively involved in economic and social research, producing impactful knowledge for public policy and nurturing ethically-driven Muslim entrepreneurs through education and community development.

الْعِلْمُ بِلَا عَمَلٍ كَالشَّجَرِ بِلَا ثَمَر

Expertise and Area of Interest
- Currently I am a dedicated academic and researcher specializing in Islamic Studies and Islamic Education, with a strong focus on integrating Fiqh, science, and technology. I hold a Ph.D. in Fiqh Science and Technology from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and have devoted over two decades to teaching, research, and community service. My academic journey is driven by the aim to bridge classical Islamic jurisprudence with contemporary technological and educational developments.
- As the Director of the Centre of Research for Fiqh Science and Technology (CFiRST), I lead various initiatives that apply Shariah principles to diverse domains, including the halal industry, Islamic bioethics, and solutions to modern socio-economic challenges. I am actively involved in the design and delivery of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and innovative educational modules that promote family well-being, social empowerment, and religious awareness, particularly for the Malaysian Muslim community.
- My research interests cover Islamic jurisprudence, educational technology, blended learning strategies, and the integration of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) into Islamic education curricula. I have successfully led and contributed to multiple national and community-based projects focusing on family development, women’s empowerment, and sustainable socio-economic initiatives aligned with Maqasid Shariah.
- With an extensive publication record in Scopus and reputable academic journals, I have authored books, book chapters, policy papers, and technical reports addressing contemporary Islamic issues and educational methods. My active roles in editorial boards and national committees reflect my commitment to advancing knowledge and serving the community.
- Passionate about fostering academic excellence and societal well-being, I continue to contribute to shaping Islamic educational practices and research innovations that address the evolving needs of modern Muslim societies.
