MoU between UTM and Thailand

A new research agreement was signed today between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Malaysia Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA). The agreement was signed by the Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail while MTJA was represented by their CEO Dr. Witsarut Thungsuntonkhum. The UTM & Imperial College collaboration has successfully secured the MTJA research grant entitled Energy Recovery in Petroleum Processing via Integrated High Performance Technologies. A research cess fund amounting USD 4.89 million has been allocated by the Malaysia Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA) for UTM-Imperial College to undertake this particular research. UTM & Imperial College is also partnering with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) for this project.

LAUNCHING OF JOINT MASTER DEGREE PROGRAMME (JMDP) BETWEEN UNIVERSITY OF TSUKUBA, JAPAN AND MJIIT, UTM AND JASTIP DISASTER PREVENTION JOINT-LABORATORY, DISASTER PREPAREDNESS & PREVENTION CENTRE (DPPC), MJIIT, UTM

Kuala Lumpur, 29 August 2017: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) held the launching of the Joint Master Degree Programme (JMDP) between University of Tsukuba, Japan and MJIIT, UTM & JASTIP Joint-Laboratory of Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Centre (DPPC), MJIIT, UTM. YBhg. Prof. Dr. Noor Azizi Bin Ismail, Deputy Director General Of Higher Education (Public Higher Education Institutions), Ministry of Higher Education was invited to officiate this event.

 

The Joint Master Degree Programme (JMDP), a joint collaboration between Environmental Engineering & Green Technology Department of MJIIT, UTM and School of Life and Environmental Sciences of University of Tsukuba, Japan through the Master’s program called Masters of Sustainability and Environmental Sciences, which is an interdisciplinary study that stresses on the application of concepts and methods from the physical, chemical and biological study of the environment. Upon completion of the program graduates will receive a single testamur (certificate) conferred jointly by both Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and University of Tsukuba.

 

The JASTIP Joint-Laboratory of Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Centre (DPPC), MJIIT, UTM was established as Disaster Prevention Satellite Site under Disaster Prevention Project, while another two project involved are Energy and Environment, established at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in Pathum Thani, Thailand and Bioresources and Biodiversity Project established at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Indonesia which these joint researches have engendered a number of researchers in leading positions and have helped train the researchers who have become subsequent leaders in the field. The launching of program will be presented by YBhg. Prof. Datin Dr. Rubiyah Yusof, Dean of MJIIT and Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr Wahid Bin Omar, Vice-Chancellor UTM. Both launchings of the Joint Master Degree Programme (JMDP) and JASTIP Joint-Laboratory of Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Centre (DPPC), MJIIT were announced by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Noor Azizi Bin Ismail, Deputy Director General Of Higher Education (Public Higher Education Institutions), Ministry of Higher Education, represented by Prof. Dr. Kyosuke Nagata, President of University of Tsukuba, Japan and Prof. Dr. Kaoru Takara, Dean of Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability, Kyoto University.
