Russia’s government is backing Building Information Modelling (BIM) to boost construction efficiency in the country. Mikhail Men, the Russian minister for construction, revealed earlier this month that his department is working on a strategy to promote the use of BIM in future Russian building projects.
“As the regulators of the construction industry, we need to create the conditions for BIM technology to be used in practice,” said Men. “In Russia, BIM is only used in individual projects, on the initiative of the project owners, in Russia’s major cities. Around the world, however, it is universal practice.” The minister was speaking at a gathering of government minsters, construction bosses and BIM experts, as Russia looks to kickstart a construction revival and build more efficiently.
