5th May 2025 – The Environmental Sampling: Principles and Hands-On Workshop was successfully held on 5th May 2025 (Monday) in conjunction with ICOWOBAS 2025, through a strategic collaboration with SR Environment Sdn. Bhd. The workshop took place at the HELIXS Smart Classroom, Faculty of Science, UTM, with the hands-on session conducted around Tasik Ilmu, UTM.


This workshop offered comprehensive exposure, covering the theoretical background, fundamental concepts, and practical steps of environmental sampling. The programme included impactful and well-structured sessions such as:
- Slot 1: Introduction & Theory of Environmental Sampling
by Ts. ChM. Dr. Faizuan bin Abdullah - Slot 2: Fundamental Concepts, Methodologies, and Practical Steps
by ChM. Ahmad Nazmi bin Roslan - Slot 3: Understanding the Objectives and Scope of Sampling Activity
by Mr. Mohd Keffli bin Suliman - Slot 4: Hands-On Sampling Session at Tasik Ilmu, UTM
Participants gained in-depth knowledge on the principles and practices of environmental sampling and were given the opportunity to carry out hands-on sampling activities themselves. This practical session provided a realistic experience of field challenges, as well as proper equipment handling and systematic sampling procedures.


The workshop also recorded an impressive turnout, with nearly 50% of participants representing industry and government agencies, indicating the strong demand for technical training of this nature. Notably, the involvement of UTM alumni as guest speakers enriched the sessions with valuable real-world industry insights.
Most significantly, the event received over 80% of the highest satisfaction scores from participants, reflecting its overall effectiveness and impact.
