Tuesday, 22 July 2025 – Today marks the beginning of a new journey not just for the mentees, but also for those of us fortunate enough to serve as mentors in the STAR LEAD Program organized by the Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
I’m honoured to be part of this initiative as a mentor, alongside other esteemed colleagues such as Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. See Hong Heng, with the program officially introduced by Prof. Madya Ts. ChM. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek and closed by Prof. Dr. Madzlan Aziz.
🌟 What is STAR LEAD?
The STAR LEAD Program is designed to nurture future leaders in science, innovation, and research through structured mentorship and collaborative innovation. It brings together experienced academics and researchers to guide early-career scientists and lecturers in developing impactful research ideas and prototype solutions.
As outlined in the program, my responsibilities include mentoring at least three mentees throughout the program’s duration, providing technical, research, and prototype development support, conducting regular review sessions to track mentees’ progress, participating in scheduled workshops and monitoring meetings, submitting evaluation reports to the program committee for three promising of my mentees
Today’s introduction is just the beginning. I look forward to watching our mentees grow, innovate, and possibly bring forward the next breakthrough that could make a difference in our communities or industries.
