Program mentor-mentee in SMK Taman Nusajaya ( Theorem Pythagoras)
The last mentor mentee program for SMK Taman Nusaya was conducted on 13 July 2019. The mentor and center enjoyed the interesting topics which is theorem Pythagoras.
This mentor-mentee program is designed to provide opportunities for lower secondary students to interact with teachers, scientists and university students for a better understanding of the activities, beliefs and traits essential for the conduct of rigorous scientific learning. In our designed STEM program, two groups of students from SMK Taman Nusajaya were selected as the mentee, in which 40 Form 1 students were enrolled to Mentor-Mentee Mathematics (MMM) and 40 Form 2 students were enrolled to Mentor-Mentee Sciences (MMS). This STEM based curriculum offers activities that related to Theorem Pythagoras such as hands-on and minds-on lessons for the students. During the program, data collection will be done using survey forms. These survey forms are given to the students (mentee) before and after the program. The students need to answer questions that related to their understandings on the basic concept, knowledge as well as application from hands-on activities throughout the module (Theorem Pyhtagoras). After that, the feedbacks in survey form are statistically analysed to present the conclusion of each finding in this program. From the findings, the conclusions for each module can be made as well as summarise the limitation of the program. Besides, some recommendations were suggested for future improvement of the STEM program.
The objectives of the module are:
- To stimulate and nurture students’ interest in the topic of Theorem Pythagoras.
- To enhance students’ understanding of major concepts and theories in Theorem Pythagoras through mentor-mentee engagement.
- To develop critical thinking skills in Mathematics by conducting games during the program
There are happy students who love mathematics!
They learned to construct “segitiga tepat”.
Hope to see you again! Stay tuned for second series of mentor center program.

TEACHING EXCELLENCE SYSTEM (TES)
UTM Teaching Excellence system (TES) is a good platform to keep all the teaching record, activities, portfolio and all related teaching stuff.
Instead of viewing all the teaching related info from academic profile in https://my.utm.my/.
Please remember to key in the details of “blended learning” info that have been used in the class under E-content:
For Academic Staff, building your teaching e-portfolio is important in TESDCP. You can find it from https://my.utm.my/ under UTMACAD > TESDCP.
