BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Henry Kang currently serves as an Associate Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He is an Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) Associate, an Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and a member of the Society of Floating Solutions (Singapore). He has been invited as an expert member of the Safer End of Life for Offshore Wind Infrastructure Workshop of the Royal Academy of Engineering at United Kingdom.
To date, he has published over 130 international journal and conference papers. He serves on the editorial boards of the SCI Q1 journal “Journal of Marine Engineering & Technology” and the “Journal of Ocean Engineering and Technology” of the Korean Society of Ocean Engineers. Additionally, he is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Green Technology (SEGT) and has chaired various important international conference sessions, such as the Offshore Technology Conference Asia (OTC Asia 2024, 2026) and the 43rd International Conference on Ocean, Offshore & Arctic Engineering (OMAE) organized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
In the past five years, he has participated in over 30 international marine engineering research projects and more than 10 industry-academia collaborative projects. His research achievements in marine carbon capture earned him the Gold Medal at the Malaysia Technology Expo 2021 and the International Merit Award at the Malaysia-Croatia Technology Exchange.
In 2019 and 2023, he was awarded a visiting scholar position under the EU Horizon Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) program to visit the University of Lisbon. His research focuses on developing technological and engineering solutions to promote sustainable development goals, protect, and sustainably use marine resources. His research interests include marine structure reliability and safety, marine environmental sustainability, maritime decarbonization, and fluid-structure interaction.
