Dr. Henry Kang is the Director of the Marine Technology Center at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He is also an associate member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) in the United Kingdom, a member of the International Association of Offshore Engineers (IAOE) in the United States, and a member of the Society of Floating Solution (Singapore).

He has published over 100 international journal and conference papers. He is an editorial board member for the Journal of Marine Engineering & Technology by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology, and Journal of Ocean Engineering and Technology by the Korean Society of Ocean Engineers, and as a scientific committee member in the International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Green Technology (SEGT) and International Conference on Marine Technology (MARTEC).

He has been involving in numerous international projects in ocean engineering since 2015. In 2019, he was awarded as a visiting scholar in Instituto Superior T├ęcnico, the University of Lisbon under the European Union-funded Horizon 2020 project to develop advanced utilization of ship automatic identification system. His research interests are the marine sustainability, marine structures, and fluid-structure interaction. He is a certified professional trainer in Malaysia.
