TEDxUTM

Life is a wonderful journey, even if you are not following the mainstream!
AHIBS is proud to have our own Associate Professor Dr. Ramesh Zaidi Rozan delivering a fascinating TEDxUTM talk on “Unusual Path Travelled” that should allow us human to choreograph our own destiny. This unusual path have lead him to where he is now. Dr. Zaidi is among a diverse group of 10 prominent speakers who are talented and succeeded in their own field to present at the TEDxUTM 2019.

During our life journey, sometimes we traverse on some winding and challenging road. The journey leads us to some frightening destinations, or into the deep jungles and terrains that we need to struggle through, only to witness the beautiful green pastures in front. Such, is life.

Truly as an audience, we can learn a lot from Dr. Zaidi’s journey that may help develop and shape us as individuals, as well as prepare us for our own future adventures.

Dr. Zaidi is an Associate Professor in Information Systems at AHIBS, and currently he is the Director of the UTM Centre For Student Innovation & Technology Entrepreneurship – UTM XCITE. Kudos, Dr. Zaidi!

BOOK REVIEW

Book review session done. Thank you Dean Nur for your endless support, lecturers, staff attended in KL and JB through video conferencing.

VIVA VOCE

Meet Chen Jian, our latest Phd candidate who have passed his viva voce recently. Chen’s Phd journey is an epitome of passion, resilience and hardwork. He had to do his proposal defence twice, after failing the first one. English language is a big barrier and frequent travels to Malaysia from Guangzhou for supervisory meeting proved to be exhausting. But all this obstacles didn’t deterred him to complete his work in 3 years! Chen is AHIBS testimony of positive transformation.

Chen’s thesis on ‘Building Improvised Brand Loyalty Model To Support The Application Industry Development’ was supervised by Dr Suzilawati Kamarudin and Dr Adriana Mohd Rizal.

Congratulations Chen and his supervisors! ??

AHIBS Uberizing Business Education in the Gulf Region

AHIBS Uberizing Business Education in the Gulf Region

Uberizing business education towards creating business leaders is the core business of Azman Hashim International Business School. The business school extensively works on their branding and marketing initiatives in the Gulf Region. As part of the UTM Global Strategy, AHIBS early this year engaged in a ten-day marketing and branding Gulf Drive in delivering business education to the Gulf Region. AHIBS strongly believes the importance of their alumni as ambassadors and thus sparks much of the success of the recruitment of  business students in the school.

The formalisation of partnership begun with the roll out of AHIBS in uberizing business education led by the Dean of Azman Hashim International Business School, Prof. Nur herself with Head of Saudi Arabia Executive Learning and Development,  Dr. Suzilawati Kamaruddin. Universities that have expressed  interests in the partnership are Ar-Rayan College of Medical in Madhinah, Macca Chamber of Commerce, Makkah,  and University of Business and Technology in Jeddah.

Following the engagement,  the  formalisation of  UBT and UTM partnership is scheduled to be held on  24th February in the 2019 Gulf Education Conference and Exhibition. This will promote  mutually beneficial cooperation and sharing of expertise between UBT and UTM in various fields such as business and engineering education, in line with AHIBS and UTM global strategies. To begin with, around 20 UBT academics from various cohort across areas in Engineering, Business, Language, and Architecture will join UTM PhD programmes in September, 2019.  UTM Azman Hashim International School will also assist UBT in their PhD curriculum enhancement. In addition, UTM will collaborate on facilitating the establishment of a Chemical Engineering department in UBT beginning this year. The partnership will also facilitate the capacity building through faculty and student exchanges.  The collaboration is in tandem with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 2ndthemes: to have a thriving economy. As a premier private university in Saudi Arabia, UBT provides opportunities for all by building an education system that is aligned with the needs of their country.

What is Industry 4.0? Here’s A Super Easy Explanation For Anyone

Complete article : https://www.forbes.com/sites/bernardmarr/2018/09/02/what-is-industry-4-0-heres-a-super-easy-explanation-for-anyone/#435598b59788

We’re in the midst of a significant transformation regarding the way we produce products thanks to the digitization of manufacturing. This transition is so compelling that it is being called Industry 4.0 to represent the fourth revolution that has occurred in manufacturing. From the first industrial revolution (mechanization through water and steam power) to the mass production and assembly lines using electricity in the second, the fourth industrial revolution will take what was started in the third with the adoption of computers and automation and enhance it with smart and autonomous systems fueled by data and machine learning.

Even though some dismiss Industry 4.0 as merely a marketing buzzword, shifts are happening in manufacturing that deserves our attention.

Industry 4.0 optimizes the computerization of Industry 3.0

When computers were introduced in Industry 3.0, it was disruptive thanks to the addition of an entirely new technology. Now, and into the future as Industry 4.0 unfolds, computers are connected and communicate with one another to ultimately make decisions without human involvement. A combination of cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things and the Internet of Systems make Industry 4.0 possible and the smart factory a reality. As a result of the support of smart machines that keep getting smarter as they get access to more data, our factories will become more efficient and productive and less wasteful. Ultimately, it’s the network of these machines that are digitally connected with one another and create and share information that results in the true power of Industry 4.0.
