About Me

Hello world, I’m Janatun. Currently, I’m a senior lecturer in the Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FABU), University Teknologi Malaysia. My academic career began with a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, followed by a Master’s degree in architecture, and finally, I completed my PhD in Architecture at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

I’m interested in understanding human behaviour and their interaction with surrounding built environment elements. Predominantly in children’s environments using qualitative GIS, including from local and indigenous communities in rural areas.

"Teaching someone to know is like trying to teach a cat to sing opera – it might make for some entertaining moments, but it's not always the most harmonious experience. Teaching to learn, on the other hand, is like planting the seeds of knowledge and watching them grow into a forest of wisdom!"
