Background

Mahadhir Mohamed, aged 51, is currently serving as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) since 2016. With over two decades of experience in academia and research, he is recognized as a dedicated figure in advancing the field of chemical reaction engineering. Since 1998, he has been an active member of the Chemical Reaction Engineering Group (CREG), where he has been directly involved in numerous research projects related to catalyst development and reaction engineering, including industry collaborations and publications in high-impact journals. He has been a registered Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) since 2006, reflecting his commitment to professional engineering practice. Since 2008, he has also been an Associate Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), a globally recognized professional body in the field of chemical engineering. His academic journey began at UTM, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1997, followed by a Master’s degree in the same field in 2000. His passion and dedication to research continued to grow, culminating in the completion of his PhD in 2016, with a research focus on the catalytic conversion of glycerol. His work has made valuable contributions to the fields of sustainable energy and green chemistry, with potential applications in the biofuel industry and the production of value-added chemicals. Today, alongside his teaching responsibilities and supervision of postgraduate students, he remains actively involved in leading strategic research projects and in the development of new technologies aimed at sustainability and innovation in chemical engineering.
