Abstract:

An air corridor is an identified region of airspace in which an aircraft must remain in during its transit through a given region. Air corridors are normally inflicted by diplomatic or military requirements. For many years, the flight route especially in Asia Pacific region is still far behind where there is only one route that need to be adhered by aircraft during transit from one place to another. This paper is mainly focusing on assigning aircraft into preferred flight path or trajectory by following flight maneuver in lateral motion. The focus is to study a suitable method in order to assign flight into slots and design a common maneuvering trajectory assignment method for a specified cases selected. The airspace is considered within the Asia Pacific region especially between Malaysia and Japan. Methods for the aircraft assignment was studied and the assignment method introduced has enhanced the flight management assignment.  Data for this study was obtained from the real flight path from Malaysia to Japan and the result analyses of this study were then presented in table form. The findings show that i4D and Corridor Flow concept can be implemented in Asia Pacific region. Nevertheless, these two concepts are still being studied for future implementation and several improvements should be done in order to make sure the maneuverability of the transient aircraft to be more efficient in accordance with Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) concept.
