Then, he worked as a process engineer in a multinational company that produced bio-oil from the empty oil palm fruit bunches (EOPFB) using a fast pyrolysis technology with the collaboration and involvement of research experts from the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, and South Korea as well.
His passion for research and development made him apply and was successfully appointed to the position of research officer (Grade Q41) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2007.
After 6 years at UTM, he was promoted to the rank of senior research officer (Grade Q44) in 2013 and he graduated from UTM in 2014 with a master's degree in Chemical Engineering (Renewable Energy).
Due to his active involvement in research and development, high-impact journal article publications, and committee members at the university, national and international levels, he was then promoted to the position of Senior Research Officer (Grade Q48) in 2018 at the Institute of Future Energy, UTM.
In 2018, Dr. Fadhzir has been recognized as a Professional Technologist (Ts.) by the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT).
Dr. Fadhzir has defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled High-Temperature Electrolysis of Copper Chloride using Hybrid Proton Exchange Membrane for Hydrogen Production at Universiti Putra Malaysia and conferred a Doctorate status on 8th September 2022.
Currently, he has been involved with more than 18 research projects and consultancies. Dr. Fadhzir also has published more than 20 journal articles (4 ISI Q1, 2 ISI Q2, 5 Scopus, 2 book chapters, and conference proceedings) not including 2 patent applications and 3 copyrights at the national and international levels.
Additionally, he has also reviewed several reputable international peer-reviewed journals with a total of 18 verified reviews (10 for Journal of Cleaner Production Q1, 2 for International Journal of Energy Research Q1, 1 for International Journal of Hydrogen Energy Q2, 1 for Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics Q2, 1 for International Journal of Photoenergy Q3, and 3 for Heliyon Q2).
