The 6th plenary meeting for SHYFTE was held at Université Lumière Lyon 2 from 2 February until 6 February 2020. The university is located at Lyon, which is the third-largest city in France, after Paris and Marseille.
The representatives from UTM were Dr Norjulia Nordin and I, while Prof. Ir. Dr. Nor Kamariah Noordin and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syamsiah Mashohor represented UPM.
The main agenda during the meeting was to design teaching programs and learning materials for the 4 domains, namely Industrial Engineering and Management, Software Engineering and Big Data, Wireless Network Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. The last domain is under the responsibility of UTM team. We managed to design the template and framework for the co-curriculum and revised the strategy for dissemination and exploitation.
Apart from meeting sessions, we also had several social programmes that involved dinner and visit to the city centre. During the dinner, I have tasted one of the most delicious and authentic creme brûlées, which is also my favourite dessert. And since most of the food provided is not halal, we opted for seafood such as fish, prawns and cheese.
On the way back from Lyon to KL, we transit at London for one day. Since we have less than 24 hours in London, we could only manage to go for sightseeing at Tower Bridge and Oxford Street, just to reminiscence the good memories in London.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held at Lisbon in April. Nonetheless, looking at the current trend of coronavirus, I am not sure whether the plan is viable or not. Let us pray that this tough time will be over as soon as possible.
