N.H. Mahmood received his B.Eng and M.Eng degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Engineering from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. His research areas are three-dimensional (3D) object reconstruction from multiple views, biomedical image processing, medical electronics, biomedical materials, and rehabilitation engineering. Since 1999, he is serving at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UTM. Within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, he teaches a number of courses related to his research and elementary to the electrical and electronics curriculum. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the School of Electrical Engineering. Formerly, he was a Head of Department for Bio-instrumentation & Signal Processing Department and Biotechnology & Medical Engineering Department at Faculty of Biomedical Engineering & Health Science and Faculty of Bio-sciences and Medical Engineering respectively from 2011 until 2015. He was also a Postgraduate Manager and a Director in the School of Electrical Engineering from 2018 until 2019. Besides academics, he is actively involved with chess. He served as a national coach for chess during Asean Para Games, Kuala Lumpur 2017, Asian Para Games, Indonesia 2018, and latest in Asean Para Games, Manila 2020.
