Nazri Kama is currently serving as the Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation, Development and Alumni at Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) – June 2018 until May 2021. Prior to this appointment, he was the Head of Informatics Department and the Deputy Dean Research and Innovation of Advanced Informatics School, UTM. Throughout his academic administration career, he has been actively participating at the university and faculty level strategic initiatives.

He obtained a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (Management Information System) and a Master Degree in Real-time Software Engineering from UTM. He received his Doctoral Degree from the University of Western Australia, Perth specializing in Software Engineering. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers on software engineering related area including software requirements, software design and software construction/programming.

Besides having expertise in the software engineering research domain, he is also leveraging his expertise in the Electric Vehicle (EV) research field. He has invented a universal EV charging system that is capable of charging any types of EV cars (United States, Japan or Europe). This project was funded by the Technofund grant, a pre commercialization fund under Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). This invention has received many international and local awards, of which among them are the Special Innovation Award by Toronto International Society of Innovation & Advanced Skills, Canada and the Gold Medal award at the Malaysia Technology Expo 2015, by the Malaysia Association of Research Scientist (MARS). His latest invention recognition was received in 2018 where he won the Best Industrial Design Award, at the National Intellectual Property Award organized by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), an agency under the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operative and Consumerism Malaysia.

Apart from university academic and management responsibilities, he has also been appointed as the Advisor of Federal Territory Strategic Research Institute under the Ministry of Federal Territory. As an advisor, he is actively involved in setting up the strategic management and research direction of the institute.
