Teaching Philosophy
Student is a person who’s studying in order to gained a knowledge. In college or university, they are someone who is studying in order to obtain a professional certificate. These students have broad background. They can be someone with a family background that may be come from a higher income parents and as well as from well-known family background. However, they may also come from B40 group that in Malaysia is referred as a low-income family group.
Malaysia system is well known with the equality education system which also provide a very supportive ecosystem to the low income group so that they can upgrade their life. This system which offers the children that come from the low income family group which believe with an education these family group can upgrade their life and possibly out of the cocoon of poverty. To that matters, it is important for a teacher or educators to have a very good and excellent approach to teach their students that came from various family background.
The reason is due to the family background will influences how the student can absorb and assimilate the knowledge in the school. While having the element in mind, I believe that by integrating the previous main focused with current requirements of such as problem-based learning which will create a hands-on and critical thinking among the students is a best learning and teaching approach.
This student that has been exposed with such of learning and teaching approach will benefit their soft and hard skills as they try to gained the knowledge without the spoon feed system. With at the same time, the approach gives the opportunity for the student to gained marks for their learning activities based on their efforts and creativity. This will ensure the education system to produce a future professional with a very strong education background that generated from their soft and hard skills and does not refer from a text book. This is what of OUR country is MOSTLY NEEDED!
My Teaching Strategy
The student assessment during my class mostly will be on:
- Topic discussion and critical thinking
- Problem solving based on current issues and problems
- On-site practice or field work practice
- Practice of technology based on current/latest software
- Presentations of project and simulations
