Who is Nor Muhainiah?
Nor Muhainiah Mohd Ali (NorM) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) where she has been a faculty member since 2005. NorM had perfect scores in all her subjects throughout her years in school, then enrolled at UTM for UTM–MARA Express Program. In 2002, NorM graduated from UTM with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Mathematics. She continued her studies for her master’s degree at UTM. NorM majored in Pure Mathematics for her PhD degree also at UTM and graduated from the university in 2008.
Her research interests lie in Algebra; Group Theory; Graph Theory with their applications. NorM has written more than 200 Group Theory research papers in national and international proceedings and journals. She has also supervised more than 25 undergraduate students for their final year project, and 28 students at the postgraduate level.
Nor is an Exco Member of Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society (PERSAMA) and has been the Coordinator of National Mathematical Olympiad (OMK) from 2011 until 2016. Nor currently holds a few positions; the Research Coordinator for Research Program (Mathematics) and the Research Group Leader for Applied Algebra and Analysis Research Group.
