TASK 1: In about 150 words, tell us which of the 8 common interview questions do you find to be the hardest question to answer? Explain why.
Reminder: Please write your full name in your response.
‘What are your strengths and weaknesses’
It seems like a simple question but if we do not answer it carefully it can spoil our interview. The hardest part is to tell the interviewer about our weaknesses. Nobody like to tell other people about their negative side. The interviewer want us to be honest and we cannot tell them we do not have any weaknesses. We will make ourselves look stupid if we say that. No human is perfect and everyone need to admit it. So, we need to analyse ourselves thoroughly to identify our own strengths and weaknesses. We need to choose a weakness that would not be a deal-breaker to them and that is the hardest part to do.
When we tell them about our strengths we need to have a strong evidence. The interviewer may ask us several questions to test of what we have claim about ourselves. If we cannot give any good answer or evidence to them we will just embarrassing ourselves because they may think we are lying and cannot be trust.
This question allows you to flex your storytelling muscles. Since it’s about recalling an actual experience they should be less stressful to answer. I find that this question is the hardest question for me as I never worked in a big company before and unable to identify the challenges that might appear in the working environment. In addition, even though I’m a confident and brave person, I don’t really have an idea on how handle the problems that would emerge between the co-workers. Other than that, I have trouble in projecting the incident in an interesting way to the interviewers.
“Tell me about a time you dealt with a challenging situation at work.”
From the 8 common interview questions, I found out question “Where do you see yourself five years from now?” is the hardest question to answer because it’s difficult to predict future. Our answer need to be more realistic and not to be too specific. This is because we might stating goals that are not realistically achievable in the job available. Also, setting goals are the main thing needed in every person even though goals changed from time to time. Besides, we want to come across enthusiastic, not arrogant. So we have to think carefully before answer the question or else the interviewer might think that we are not fit enough to work with them. Lastly, we need to make sure there is some correlation between our courses and the job that we applied in order to show that we understand with our chosen career path.
I think the most difficult question is when they asked to demonstrate how to deal with certain situation because during interview there is not enough time to think just what like in the video said using format such as situation, task, action, and result (STAR). Hence, due to nervous I maybe blank for a while. Even though I want to think faster at that time but it cannot help and I maybe will speak what I don’t even can remember what I just said. Moreover, I am not speaking English fluently and sometimes I know the situation well but hard to explain to the others. Sometimes I have the word in my head but it just like stuck in my head cannot go out then after the interview I try to rewind the memory back then it became easy to answer the question again. I just cannot answer the question on the spot.
In my opinion, the hardest question for me to answer is ” what are your strengths and weaknesses?”. It is very hard for me to tell and explain about my strengths and weaknesses. To be honest, until right now I still don’t know about my strenghts. To tell the interviewers about my strenghts, I need strong evidence and and at the same time I need to show my strenghts. I don’t want to show my strengths by talking something that interviewers and I know it are not true. ” What are your strenghts and weaknesses?” actually is common question in any interview. Even it is common question and I practice lots of time to answer this question. I don’t think I can answer it well. Especially about my weaknesses. When talk about weaknesses, of course I need to be honest and the same time I have to impress the interviewers. It is not a easy task. I can’t lie to them, it will show that I can’t be trusted. What can I do is I need to find my strengths and weaknesses. Then, try to improve my weaknesses to become my strenghts.
In my opinions, the hardest question was “What are your strengths or weaknesses?”. Honestly, this question just like a huge trap for me. Since I am the egoistic person, and I am not the one that will show my weaknesses to the others. At the same I also do not find any strengths, and I still need to analyse myself. As the interviewers want me to be honest, I need to tell them the truth, but I cannot just simply say it. I should not be too honest by telling them all of my weaknesses as it will give them a bad impression, but I can’t lie by telling them the strength that does not even exist in myself as it can hurt my pride if I couldn’t prove it to them. At the same time I was not very fluent in English, so it could be difficult for me to explain my weaknesses and strength to the interviewers.
In my opinion, common interview questions that i found hardest question to answer is where do you see after 5 years from now?I think this question is hard because i like to live in the moment so normally my future planning wont reach more than few months.Next, what kind of salary do you expect is also hardest questions for me because i don’t have many friends or known people in the field related to petroleum so i don’t have a clear pic of my salary needed to expect.Furthermore, another question is tell about your education because my course is quite huge so i will have difficulty to start the topic itself.Besides, tell us your weakness and strength is another most hardest question for me because weakness and strength are quiet neutral to me. I don’t have bad weakness or great strength. Thus hard to explain such an abstract theme.
For me the hardest question is “can you tell me about a time when you demonstrated….? “.I think this question need a real experience in working environment to look more natural when you talk about it. I do have a little experience in working but that only in part-time job. But in this situation, its necessary to capture intention of interviewer to listen into your story by narrating a good story with good line up. In addition, i was so bad at narrating and im afraid of mumbling instead of expressing myself professionally. I have never been in working situations that requires leadership skill and most interviewer can manipulate situation of your views. Besides that, im lacking in the confidence of expressing something that i have never ever gone through before.
I think the most difficult question is “what is your leadership style?”. This question is hard to answer because i still don’t know what are my leadership style. Although it is quite an easy question to answer but i’m still learning about myself plus i don’t use to work in an organization or any competition that require a leadership. Next, the hardest question to answer is when they asked about “where do you see yourself five years from now?”. This is because for a fresh graduate like me, i still don’t have a clear pic of my future until i get a job. If i get a job then i will have a better idea of where i’m going to be in the next five years. This is because i notice that the number of fresh graduate that don’t work is many and that’s why i said that i still don’t have a clear pic of my future.
I think the most difficult question is “what are the your strength and weaknesses?Actually honestly to say I don’t know how to say about my strength because I’m not good enough speaks in front of many people.Just I can say I can be nervous in front in people and not so good speaking in english. If I do the oral speaking, I can speak well if alone but it will nervous if come to many people. The strength that I have i think that I’m good do the work.It means that I’m not the person that do something not seriously. If I’m do the work I will do until it finished. The strength for my side I think I like to do work alone, I means I do not need help from anyone because for me it easy not depends on someone but it is not good if I have to working with someone but still I can do it just alone much better to finish the job much faster.
When an interview coming up, we might be feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness at the same time. To give ourself a confidence boost, it’s best to fully prepare before the big day.
It’s not possible to predict every question you’ll be asked but there are common interview questions that you should prepare for. One of the hardest question to answer is “What are your strengths or weaknesses?”.
How do I say what I’m not good at without looking terrible and say what I am good at without bragging? This is a toughie. While it’s true that everyone has flaws, but it’s hard to choose which flaws to share in an interview. It will take much time to choose something related to the job that we are applying for, but at the same time it would not prevent us from performing the job’s basic responsibilities.
” where do you see yourself five years from now”.
I found out that this question one of the hardest questions to answer during the interview session. this is because for me to look forward on my future it seems like to think wisely and longer than I should think that time. furthermore, this question can be a trick question, because sometimes they actually don’t wanna hear the answer “WHAT WILL BE YOUR JOB” in the future but they want you to give an answer very carefully with confident. more importantly, we have to answer that question and give them an answer that suitable and according to our previous studies.
Everybody has their own view on this topic but as for me, the question of “what are your weaknesses?” is the toughest question among all. This open-type question is more likely to lead the interviewees to really expose their weaknesses which are not good for the interviewers to know. Based on the study that I have been through, the best way to cope with this kind of questions is by putting the candidates’ weakness in a positive situation and manner as well as relate all those things with the values that the hiring company uphold throughout their working culture. But, things are easier said than done. The nervousness and lacks of research on the company will really give problem to the candidates because they might rumble their answer. Adding unnecessary details, jumping around and does not have a clear direction of the answer are some of the worse scenarios could happen.
To me this is the most difficult question because if I were to be honest about myself, the interviewers may not want to hire me. Our weaknesses are usually what we keep a secret from other people because it makes us ashamed of ourselves. Revealing our weaknesses to the interviewer would expose my weak points to them and they will see my bad side and will not want me to work with them. But if I answer that question by saying that I don’t have any weaknesses, then I would be lying. Employers would definitely not want to hire people who are good liars because people always say that thieves become professional thieves by just learning how to lie when they are small. So, how do I answer that question about my weaknesses by being really honest in answering that question but at the same time, making sure that I don’t get rejected by the interviewer.
From my point of view , there are some questions that seem to be hard to answer during the interview for me . Firstly , ‘why do you want to work here ?’ . For sure all of us want to work to earn a great salary and not to sit by doing nothing in our house but we couldn’t tell this to the interviewer as they will seeking for a something different answer from us . Next is ‘why did you want to leave your current employer ?’ . If we’re trying for another company instead of the company we’re working at the moment , the main reason should be in the financial matter but how could answer the panel that the salary we’re getting is so low . Then do you prefer to work alone or in the group ? . This question is making problems for most of peoples since they’re some that like to work alone rather than being in group like me . Furthermore , how much are you expecting to earn in this job ? I couldn’t give a exact value since I don’t know about how much can we get for that sector since I don’t know anyone who is working in that department . Another question is do you consider yourself to be creative ? To be honest I’m not that creative as they’re seeking for , so it may make me hard to answer for it . Apart from that , what are your goals for five years and ten years out ? I don’t know to answer it correctly since my target from now are to buy a car and house after I started to work so there’s difficult for me to answer what would I need after five or ten years I’m working . Then how long do you anticipate being in this job ? I will work there if the salary and the environment there are as my requirements so I’m not sure what to answer them for that kind of question . Lastly , how do you perform under stress ? It will depends on the situation we’re gonna be at that stress moment so it’s hard to imagine and describe when the panel asking time .
Generally, i dont seem to face any excrutiating problems with regard to the various interview questions posed. However, the expression of oneself’s future view may be unnerving & unsettling as our progress within a specific company usually gets revolved around huge rounds of uncertainty. Blue and white collared workers usually engage in job shifting postings within different companies of the same field upon promotion of job offers. On the other hand, fresh graduates usually kickstart their career by engaging in smaller & lesser known firms for the sake of experience and knowledge acquisition before moving on to a hotshot company. Hence, the level of certainty of a work progress in a specific company could very well dictate the interviewer’s impression on you beforehand. Therefore, it would be wise to opt for a company on a long term basis as it usually boost the confidence towards your goals of career self-development & it certainly fires up our spirit of acing the interview in the first place as we’ve paved our way for future goals within a specific company.
As a person who literally have little to no work experience, I would say that the ” Tell me about a time you dealt with a challenging situation at work” is the hardest question to be answer.
This question requires one to elaborate on how do they face certain obstacle and get through it.
Even though the video provided a nice guideline on how to answer this question using the STAR method. It would be pointless if you have no “S” (Situation) you are in where you are dealing with those kind of challenge.
In the end, you’ll end up creating your own story which tend to be a lie.
Thus, this question is the hardest question to be answer because one need to find balance between telling truth and lies, between make your own fantasy stories or being a jobless.
What is your strengths/weakness? What is difficult about this question is to tell the interviewer about our weakness in front of them. Being honest is very important on how we want to answer the questions. However, my concern is if we tell them about our weakness it might look unbeneficial for them and the company. And turn out that i not have a good value to join them. So the only way to counter this question is to tell them how my weakness can give a good impact to the working environment. Sometimes, the way we answer the question or the thing that we tell them are not resemble who we are as we want to impress them. I am afraid that i might pretending to be a perfect person and candidates just to full fill the company requirements. Obviously this is the bad example on how to answer the interview questions. That is why i think this is the hardest question to answer during the interview.
Among the 8 questions, I believe the hardest for me is “What is your strengths/weaknesses”. I would like to stress the weakness part because I believe it is hard for me to gauge what can I say and where should I stop when talking about my weaknesses or rather should I even be honest with the interviewer. This is because I am not certain of what criteria that might be an absolute “reject conditions” for them. Thus, my approach to this problem is to try not to make the weakness sounds too bad or negative and try to show that I can overcome that weakness given the proper time and situation. I also believe that by doing so, it shows another strength in my answer.
Based on the video given, for me, I found difficulty to answer ‘Where do you see yourself five years from now’ question. It is impossible to see my future as there are many unexpected things may be happened. Therefore, I can just give opinions and show my strength to overcome problems that I will face. As example, keep focus on whatever job or task given to me even I am new to it. At the meantime, while thinking about answering that question to the interviewer, I may be nervous to generate ideas. Worst case I will going blank on that time. Furthermore, I am an introvert person. I am very shy to speak to any person and I rarely to go for interview before. That is why I think this will be the hardest question in an interview.
For me, the hardest question to answer in an interview is “What are your strengths/weakness?”. This is because when the interviewer ask you on your weakness, you need to think whether you have to be honest when stating your weakness or have to lie a little bit. So, you need to be really careful about telling out your weakness. You cannot avoid answering this question at all as this is a part of your evaluation by the interviewer. So, what you need to is you need to highlight your weakness without make it look worse or really bad. You need to convince the interviewer that you will try to overcome your weakness so that you can handle any job given by the employer really well.
Among the 8 common interview questions stated in the video, I would say the hardest is “where do you see yourself in five years?” First of all, this is because, I have come to appreciate that I cannot be completely certain what the next moment in my life will brings, let alone what five years from now will brings. However, I do have ideas and goals that support my areas of focus for the future, because I do think it is important to have a purpose in life, and you need a plan to execute the purpose. At the same time, I know life happens, things change, and I need to go with the flow when I have to take an unexpected turn from that plan. Timing, opportunities, and people will impact our path in life. Besides, as realistic or unrealistic as that may seem, if my answer gives any hints that I am planning to be elsewhere other than the company, they will consider it as a red flag and most likely not consider me in the process. After all, the main reason this question asked is to find out if I have goals and excited about my prospective future with the company
The interview question that i find harder to answer is ‘Where do you see yourself five years from now’. This is because i can not predict my destiny of my career that in which field i will work in future and also my position where either i will work in higher position or as downline staff. Another question seems to be harder for me is ‘why should our company hire you’. i found this question harder because i really do not have any idea what the interviewer expecting from me. So there is problem for me to sell myself to the company to hire me. Another question that i wish to not to be ask as interview question is ‘why do you want to join our company’. This is because i may give them wrong fact when i am trying to thinking for best answer to surprise them and brand myself as strong interview candidate.
The hardest question to answer in an interview is what are your strength/weakness?This question is hardest because it can drag down my impression if the answers are irrelevant to the question. If I give an honest answer and its give bad image on myself, I could not hired for the job. For example,”My greatest weakness is that I’m a workaholic. I don’t have any balance in my life and tend to stay late at work to complete all of my projects, often until 3 in the morning. My life is a train wreck due to working all of these crazy hours. I just keep working and working.”Same goes if I faked up my amswer and get caught. Thus, answering this interview question is tricky and can get me in trouble to be hired.
From my point of view, “what is your leadership style?” is the question that may create a problem for me to answer. This is because this question is very tactical question that may force me to reveal my weakness or unneeded character to the panels. For your information, there are many types of leadership style such as democratic leadership, transactional leadership and servant leadership. Each of the leadership style will demonstrate different characters and behaviour. By choosing one of the style, it will virtually show the panels the way you work and what kind of job that is suitable for you. This will ease them to reach the main objective in interviewing me which is to know what exactly my weakness and should they hire me or not. Besides, this question is quite hard for me as i can not really choose the main leadership style that is suitable for me. This is because i am a flexible but a little bit dependent person which is my working style depends on what type of task and who i am working with.
The hardest question might be “where do you see yourself five years from now?” I can really say it a tough question as i rarely think or planning for my future. What i’m gonna do for tomorrow also i don’t have any plans yet. Usually i’m the type who just follow the flow. If i want to do something, i do it at that moment. No need plan. Yeah i know it better if we have plan for ourself so that our life will be more organized. But for now i’m comfortable being like this, no need to stress myself thinking what i’m gonna do next month, years. Just chill. If i really were planning on my future or something, i bet it not the serious one. I might reply to the interviewer “i dont know, as long as i’m happy and living my life good.” Jk. Ofc i will be prepared and give the best answer.
Among the questions stated, I found the most challenging one to be “Where do you see yourself in 5 years? “. This would require me to have a clear image of what I want to be and what my goal in life is. I’ve only been going through my life by following the flow set by others. This causes me to have a blurry image of what I’ll be in the future. I know I want to be successful and I know I want a fulfilling life. I’m just not sure as to where and how I’ll achieve that. If someone were to ask me that question right now, I’d probably give a silly like a billionaire living in a big mansion because I truly don’t know as to where I’ll be during that time. Hence, that’s why I personally find this question to be quite difficult for me.
There are quite a number of common questions being asked during an interview in which the candidate is unable to answer. In my opinion, “Tell me a little about yourself” is the hardest question to be answered during an interview. This is because, as a fresh graduate, we might not have enough working experience and exposure as requested by the company, especially in a multinational company apart from our internship programme and some other non-office work which is not related to the industry you are keen in joining. Moreover, we did mention our involvement such as events, competitions and also our working experience (if we have) during our undergraduate studies in our cv or resume. This causes the candidate to repeat the same information to the interviewer which they have read it earlier. Besides, we tend to provide unnecessary information to the interviewer such as the school you have studied, getting result with flying colours in our UPSR, PMR and etc. The panels tend to lose their interest in listening. This gives a very bad impression to the panel as we lack professionalism.
Among the 8 common interview questions stated in the video, I would say that the hardest one is the “tell us about yourself “. There are many reasons in which I include here to support my opinion. If you have ever been to an interview, you might have noticed that the first question that the panel of interviewers normally ask is the “tell us about yourself” question. This is a very crucial question as this allows the interviewee to describe about themselves. Some find this very difficult as most are prepared to answer questions unrelated to them and when they are presented with this question, they remain baffled by it. This is due to the fact that describing about one’s self is rather difficult. Since this question is commonly the first question, and when an interviewee gets stuck on this question, this sets an overall bad impression on the interviewee.
Among the 8 common interview questions stated in the video,i would say the hardest is “where do you see yourself in five years ?”.This is perhaps the most unanswered question at job interviews too. This can feel like a bit of a trick question, because sometimes the answer is, “not in this job,” or, “in your job,” or something like, “at a bigger better opportunity elsewhere and sometime the answer may raise a misunderstanding among interviewers, that we have no long term intentions with the company. Not all of us have a specific career path in mind or even a personal five-year plan. After all, who knows what will happen in five years’ time?.”No-one can see into the future, so how can a recruiter know that the qualities they see in you today will still be evident tomorrow, or next month, or in 5 years’ time? .In today’s competitive job market, interviewers are looking for any red flag to use as an excuse not to hire someone. So we could be unfairly eliminated from contention if you answer this question in a way that even hints this is not the one and only job of your dreams.Seems like an easy question, right?.Wrong.Amazingly enough, this question is one that most job seekers get incorrect.Their reason behind the question isn’t to test your precognitive abilities but rather to see how well your answer lines up with the company’s long term goals.Understandably, an employer wants to hire someone who is truly excited about the job at hand, someone who sees it as a great career move and will work tirelessly to do a good job.
Aw, this was a really nice post. In thought I would like to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and precise effort to make an excellent article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and certainly not appear to get something done.
